I returned from an amazing jaunt to Amsterdam with some of my favorite collectistas—more deets on that another time. What we need to address as you prepare for your summer travels is how to pack fashionably. When we travel abroad, particularly when attending art venues and events, we want to be chic. However, it is all sooo much easier when we pack as little as possible. If packing for a week, my general MO is to pack a couple of pants, a few interchangeable tops, and two dresses. Be realistic and forget the workout clothes—we all know you are going to stay up until all hours and then set the alarm at the latest possible moment to make your morning activity. The following are some great outfits that are perfect for summer travel.

Little Blue Dress

You know I am so not the little black dress girl. Hence, let’s just mix it up a little and pack a wearable little blue dress. You can wear it a few times and change it up with some jewelry or a great jacket. You can even do a day-into-night deal with just a pop into the room for a shoe change. Here are some of my faves right now. The best part is, many are on sale!

Since temperatures are so unpredictable these days, it’s best to always have a little jacket on hand. A neutral thrown chicly over your shoulders, a little capelet, or a fabulous statement jacket will be just right.

Yes, I know a white blouse sounds a little boring. But, it really is the most practical, wearable, and versatile basic for traveling. You can make it intriguing by choosing shirts with interesting shape and texture. Moreover, it gives you the ability to layer with all sorts of toppers and accessories.

Travel Pants

The name of the game with travel pants is versatility and comfort. Honestly, everyone who knows me knows that I am a total clean freak and germaphobe. That said, you should absolutely wear the same pants a couple of times during travel. Hence, keep it basic.

Travel Scarves

Always travel with a great scarf. It is both practical and chic. I mean, it’s one piece of fabric and it can be a hat, a cape, a neck warmer, a kaffiyeh, a belt—the sky is the limit! It is a great way to add a little smile to those versatile, minimalist travel basics.
