I am always cold. This creates a bit of a conundrum for the numerous outdoor events and activities I partake in during the summer/early fall months. There aren’t so many jackets and sweaters that are just the right weight and texture for an “iffy” day or evening. Further, I confess to still having some sort of sensory problem with itchy and rough fabrics. My skin crawls just imagining overheating in even the lightest wool, or water from a pool party splashing my long sleeve—ick. Here are some great options for our favorite outdoor activities.

GARDEN PARTY ON AN IFFY DAY

Usually a little cardi is easiest for daytime situations. Throw it over your shoulders Jackie O style and you are good to go in the Hamptons, Vineyard, or wherever you fancy.

OUTDOOR ART STROLLS

I am crazy about ponchos and open-front cardigans. They are easy for travel and moving and shaking. They look fantastic with dresses, skirts, and pants alike. Throw on boots on a fall day and you could be in your pj’s underneath and get away with it!

EVENING OUTDOOR PARTY

Nighttime is tricky, since you don’t want to hide that fab outfit you put so much effort into. Hence, the best bet is to keep it low-key yet sophisticated with a black jacket. The shape and texture of these options add a little extra something-something.
