Its exclusively about superb service in Deer Valley and at The Stein Eriksen Lodge. In the interest of full transparency, when it comes to Park City, Utah, I have felt challenged for many years. Accommodations here are about trade-offs, and that is not how I usually roll. Life is too short to make trades-offs when traveling. I may as well stay home and not deal with the packing. However, in order to put good energy into the ether, let’s focus on the positive.
When I am skiing, my priority is ease and service versus luxury décor (when forced to make a trade off, that is). Let’s be real: skiing is a bit of a working vacation. Just getting dressed in the mornings can be exhausting. Hence, I want a lodge with an A++ ski valet and locker-room. That place, my friends, is the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley. At SEL, we receive assigned personal lockers upon arrival. These lockers remain ours for the duration of our stay. These storage spaces are amazing because, in addition to our boots and skis, we can also leave our other accoutrements — sunglasses, goggles, helmets, and gloves — and not schlep them back and forth each day. Additionally, the same valet is in charge of our equipment for our entire visit. These amazing human beings slide my boots on my feet, carry my skis and poles out to the mountain, and then carry all my equipment back in and take off my boots. The best part is that they place my boots on a warmer for the night so that they are dry and toasty the following morning. It is true what they say about it here — they do everything but ski for you. This level of service allows me to maximize my time on the ski runs and enjoy time with family and friends.
