Toys are both literally and figuratively a funny matter. They are always on the forefront of my mind this time of year, as families anticipate the transition from school year to summer. Not that children need to be entertained 24/7, but our generation of parents definitely has a warped sense of how much fun our children are entitled to. Factoid: We used to have a Manny, and the whole situation became so reminiscent of The Toy that I couldn’t even. Reality was driven home the week the Manny had jury duty. Apparently he was the courthouse entertainment explaining his title and daily duties. I was praying during the retelling that he hadn’t mentioned my name as his employer. Though my children adored him, my littlest guy hadn’t a clue how to entertain himself after we parted ways. (You should know we are still friends with said Manny. He just grew up and got on a more promising career path.) Anywho, I have really digressed this time. My real point is, there are many artful ways to entertain your kids.
