After my first few dates with Mr. Dottie, it became apparent that his closet was filled exclusively and entirely with denim shirts and khakis. My Granny convinced me to not judge the man by his clothing. “Always remember Dottie, the daytime hours make the laying hours and they always let you dress them after you are married.” And so it went…
Several years later, Mr. Dottie’s closet is still challenged. I finally realized it was time to call in Andrew Weitz, founder and CEO of The Weitz Effect. Some people are just born with a sense of style and Andrew is one of them. He first caught my eye in 1996 while walking down Rodeo Drive in a Gucci bucket hat, groovy sunglasses and skinny jeans. During that time, and for several years thereafter, Andrew had a successful career as a Hollywood talent agent at both Endeavor and WME agencies. This week, he gave it all up to go full-time with his incredible, innate skill: style consulting. Of course, he couldn’t help but share his expert opinion on the best-dressed actor at this year’s Oscars.
“Chiwetel Ejiofor was best-dressed, with his classic black tux, perfect peak lapels, clean crisp white shirt, and bow tie. Great Louboutin shoes! He was also wearing one of my favorite new British designers, Rake. Though tonight it was all about the shawl collar, the classic peak still beats it.”
What was this style consultant wearing to the Oscar festivities?
“I wore a midnight blue shawl collar myself. I am loving the white dinner jacket lately too, but not so much for Oscars. Seacrest wore it best!”
WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS?
Applying an holistic approach, I work from the inside out – first understanding a client’s needs and goals, and then working with them to develop their personal style. I offer personalized guidance to help exceptional clients reach their full potential and a higher level of success in life. My philosophy can be summed up in the three simple words: style, confidence, and success.
WHAT DO YOU COLLECT?
I have quite the collection of eyewear, pocket squares (even though I make my own) and Star Wars memorabilia.
WHAT IS YOUR THEME SONG?
“Teenage Wasteland” by The Who.
ARE YOU AN INTROVERT OR EXTROVERT?
Extrovert clearly. LOL!
WHO IS THE PERSON WHO INSPIRES YOU MOST?
My Pop Pop, Albert Weitz. I am the young version of him, and although he has not been with us for almost 20 years, I know he is watching over me and proud of my life decisions. Albert was a wonderful and loving husband, father, family man, businessman; and he lived life to the fullest. I am super lucky to be a Weitz!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PHILANTHROPIC CAUSE?
I support a number of charitable organizations; i.e., Chrysalis and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles among others.
