I have never met a dessert I haven’t liked, and there is nothing more divine than a fabulous cookie. Unfortunately, not all cookies are created equal. It is indeed an art to attain the proper ratios of sweet to salty, crispy to chewy, thin to dense, and chips to batter. Trust me, I have tested many throughout the world and you could say it has been a bittersweet experience.
Coco Bakes is certainly the sweetest of my latest cookie discoveries. Coco Winter Kislinger bakes her scrumptious gluten- and dairy-free, crispy edged, dense yet soft in the middle treats in her Southern Cal home daily. What comes off her pastry palette are imaginative flavors like Orange Chia Seed (I am all about the ch-ch-ch-chia now), Mexican Spice Chocolate, Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Raisin, and the fabulous Chocolate Chocolate Walnut. They are currently available through a fantastic CSA that just launched called Summerland, on Coco Bakes and also via Amazon Fresh. And coming soon: the Sunday Brentwood Farmers Market. I cannot wait to see them there!

As a girl I took a field trip to see a mock refugee camp set up by Doctors Without Borders and have supported them ever since. Locally I support The United Friends of the Children.
